Health & Safety In Schools

WHAT IS HEALTH AND SAFETY WITH REGARDS TO A SCHOOL?

When it comes to schools, health and safety law deems it necessary that a school assess and document all possible risks to pupils and staff, put in the appropriate actions and provisions to safeguard against these risks and detail what they believe will be the outcome of the measures.

Health and safety is not about eliminating risk, it is about managing risks effectively. It is about weighing up the risks and putting measures in place to reduce the risk. If an organisation or school tries to eliminate the risk, this can be detrimental to children and their growth because activities such as play and visits will be discouraged because there is always a level of risk with all actions and activities.
