How To Write A Cover Letter
WHAT IS A COVER LETTER?
A cover letter is sent alongside a CV to a prospective employer.

It’s purpose is to introduce you and explain that you are sending a CV for them to consider you for a position at their company or organisation.
HOW LONG SHOULD A COVER LETTER BE?
A cover letter should be between a few paragraphs to one page long.
WHAT CAN YOU WRITE IN YOUR COVER LETTER?
Your cover letter can have some of the following content:
- Your name address and contact details.
- The prospective employers address and contact details. If you have the name of the person reading your CV, then address your cover letter to them.
- An introduction to yourself.
- You can inform them that you are sending your CV with the cover letter.
- Which position you are applying for.
- When you are available to start.
- You can explain why you are applying for the job and why you should be considered for it. You can expand on what you have to offer and highlight specific skills on your CV that are relevant to the job.
- Explain why you want to work for the company and what attracted you to the company.
- Thank them for the opportunity and you look forward to hearing from them.
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT A COVER LETTER?
- Please use an A4 plain piece of paper.
- Keep all sentences short and concise.
- Write your cover letter using a professional font such as Arial or Times New Roman.
- Always check your spelling and grammar.
- Try not to duplicate your CV on your cover letter.
WHAT IF YOU ARE SENDING YOUR CV VIA EMAIL?
If you are sending your CV attached to an email, you can use the body of the email as your cover letter.
